People say a marriage gets more difficult as the years go by... you get bored, you get listless, you stray.
my parents had the opposite, they endured a very rocky start.
even after they had 2 young kids to fend for they were still rocky.
i remember their constant quarrels, the not-talking-to-each-other-for-weeks silent phases my
1st brother and i went thru when we were just kids. i
But that was then.
And this is now.
Dad's past his fifties and Mom's just reaching there.
But she still sits on his lap some evenings, squabbling over who gets to choose the channel to watch.
She still combs out his white hair.
He still does her braclips, nevermind those already-too-tight-for-the-lady dress zippers.
He still picks out clothes for her to wear, and she, his underwear. She still asks him if her make-up is fine.
She still calls him every 2 hours to know where he is. He calls her every hour to know why she ain't home with him.
Now more technologically-inclined, they send lovey-dovey texts to each other when they ain't together, even!!!!
And they now go out - just em both, without even bothering asking any of these kids of theirs these days.
tsk, tsk
AND yes, 26 they are today.
Happy Anniversary, oldie lovebirds. Happy 26th Dad and Mummy.
If such love or luck is something generic, i'd be more than glad to have what you both have some day.
:)
