There they were, feeling a lil lost dressed the way they were in that small town which was bustling with noise, dust and dirt not to mention small, roadside shop touts.... I'd have told them to just go in jeans and some simpler, roomier top but that would have robbed them of their 'tai-tai' identity, and we couldn't do that to them could we now??
When I returned from the bank to collect them (I was clever enough NOT to want to follow them on their 'shopping' expedition preferring instead to make my excuses for the bank and the comforts of the airconditioned car), I found them in an airconditioned fastfood restaurant.
Turns out, drenched in sweat and barely making it out of the 1st row of shops, they hurried to the nearest airconditioned shop they could find, and there they sat until I collected them. HAH!!! Adventure, mama??? Adventure, my flat ass.
Although it was funny the way they were fanning themselves with everything and anything they could find, and complaining and making comparisons to home. To their credit though, the temperature there was probably 34-35deg in the afternoon sun.
Hello, thats why they called it a small kampung island??? haha.
The rest of the day went well enough... thankfully, although I soooooo know those 2 were sooooooooo glad when I told them it was time to catch the ferry back. They couldn't wait to be back on home soil - the 1st thing they asked for upon reaching the ferry terminal at Singapore was???
TOILET!!!! (the toilets there were the squats kind and they decided to let their bladders hang on until they were on home ground, which from the time we reached there to the time we got back was probably a full 6 hours away!!!)
tsk... how, like that???
