Many months back, I chucked my cutesy MP3 player in 1 of those DHL boxes that came back home
with me - yes, 2 of those Jumbo boxes still lay unpacked and hidden.
Forward to just few days back, I sorta remembered having an MP3 player, and looked for it to
accompany my ever-so-boring daily 40-minute bus rides to school, and back.
Packed it into my handbag, ready for the busride the next morning.
And the next morning whilst on that bus, I realised WHY i chucked it into that DHL box in the
1st place and haven't used it since.
Nickelback's 'Far Away' & 'Photograph',
Creed's 'Sacrifice' & 'With Arms Wide Open',
Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars',
Goo Goo Dolls 'Iris'
and
Lifehouse's 'You and Me'
were the first songs on the list!
In all truth, since I do not really have the time to listen to the radio/albums at home,
in the car, or anywhere else for that matter... I haven't really heard these songs in a
loooonnnnng time.
And each of those songs I listened to only brought me back to then.
And the playlist of chosen songs I burnt into a CD. And the CD I gave away.
Tsk!
And just on that bus that fateful morning, for those first few minutes,
I was pretty sure those songs caused a hidden tear or 2. OR maybe 3 and 4?
And I was surprised at the strong emotions I felt at that point of time.
I thought I was stronger than that.
"... Lay down a list of what is wrong, the things you told him all along...
and pray to God he hears you, Pray to God he hears you....
Where did I go wrong I lost a friend, somewhere along in the bitterness...
... And I would have stayed up with you all night...
Had I known how to save a life...."
In remembrance of this song, for me.
P.S: Needless to say, I hadn't used that MP3 player again since.
