With Reza just gone to BKK for a week, I think Mummy is missing her 2 boys, although she's too strong a woman to let on.
Many of our relatives commented that it won't be that bad since I'm still staying with her eventhough Ajeeb's left to stay with his in-laws after the wedding. And even then, his in-laws is a mere 10-mins bus ride away!
Even I thought so, for even when the boys are home, they will be pre-occupied with:
1) work,
2) soccer (Ajeeb),
3) friends (Reza),
4) dates,
5) AOB.
So technically, they spend more time outside then they do at home! So it should make no difference if they aren't around these days, whether they are staying here or not.... right?
WRONG.
She doesn't talk about it, but I think I know how she feels.
She just misses her boys.
It didn't matter if they spent more time outside previously, but the little things they do when they are home sees her through.
Like Ajeeb watching Tv and putting his head on her lap (he is afterall, the manja one).
Like Reza getting ready and the only one that can fold his sleeves properly is Mummy (chet, not even me!).
Like both of them looking for her, for anything of theirs that she's kept in place somewhere (I am of course a better self-organizer so I don't need to ask her about most of my stuff... just maybe the dozens of times I've misplaced the keys and my purse).
So maybe, its these little things that she misses.
And over the past few months we have been concentrating on the changes in our lives - we could have missed out the fact that Mummy is undergoing changes in hers too. That she too, is undergoing a period of adjustment.
Some days, I see her looking back at old (*fugly) photos of us when we were younger, her eyes glistening. But she knows that changes are here to stay, and she will persevere.
Because she is just that strong a woman.
:)
Now, I wonder how it would be when Reza gets enlisted in October.
